Celebrating Youth, Agriculture, and Community at the New Year’s Beef Bash in Mitchell, Nebraska

As another New Year’s Beef Bash comes to a close, it is easy to see why this event has grown into one of the premier progressive beef cattle shows in the region.

Held at the Scotts Bluff County Fairgrounds in Mitchell, the New Year’s Beef Bash began with a vision from Chip Huckfeldt and was brought to life alongside the Scotts Bluff County Fairgrounds Board Members. Once again, the event brought together youth exhibitors, families, and cattle producers from across Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, Utah, and Wyoming. Now six years strong, the Beef Bash has become a must-attend stop on the winter cattle show calendar.

Strong Participation from Across the Region

This year’s Beef Bash saw an impressive turnout, with exhibitors competing in multiple divisions, including showmanship, breeding heifers, market steers, and market heifers.

The level of competition and quality of cattle reflected the dedication these young exhibitors put in year-round. Just as notable was the sportsmanship on display throughout the event. For many families, the Beef Bash has become a New Year’s tradition that brings them back to Mitchell year after year.

Focused on Youth in Agriculture

At its core, the New Year’s Beef Bash is about investing in the future of agriculture. Youth exhibitors gain hands-on experience while building confidence and skills that extend well beyond the show ring.

Events like this teach responsibility, perseverance, and goal-setting. They also create opportunities for friendships and connections among exhibitors from multiple states. These experiences play an important role in shaping the next generation of agricultural leaders.

A Positive Impact on the Community

The Beef Bash continues to make a meaningful impact on the Mitchell community and surrounding area. During the multi-day event, families and exhibitors support local hotels, restaurants, and businesses, strengthening the link between agriculture and rural economies.

Thanks to continued sponsor support, improvements at the fairgrounds have enhanced the overall experience. Upgraded wash rack facilities, turf enhancements, and general grounds improvements benefit not only this event, but future shows as well. All sponsorship dollars are reinvested directly back into the show and the facilities that host it.

Proud to Be Annual Sponsors

At #1 Properties Ranch & Recreation, we are proud to sponsor the New Year’s Beef Bash each year. Supporting youth in agriculture and events that strengthen rural communities aligns closely with who we are and what we stand for.

Seeing young exhibitors step into the ring with confidence, supported by families, volunteers, and sponsors, is a powerful reminder of how important events like this are to the future of agriculture in our region.

Looking Ahead to the 7th Annual Beef Bash

With another successful show in the books, planning is already underway for the 7th Annual New Year’s Beef Bash in Mitchell. If this year’s event is any indication, the Beef Bash will continue to grow and remain a cornerstone winter livestock show in the region.

We extend our sincere thanks to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and families who made this year’s event a success. On behalf of everyone at #1 Properties Ranch & Recreation, we look forward to supporting the Beef Bash again next year and continuing to celebrate youth, agriculture, and community.
